Nuachtlitir Bealtaine '11

Ba mhaith liom an deis seo a thapú mo mhíle buíochas a ghabháil le foireann, Bord, Coiste na dTuistí, tuistí ar fad agus daltaí na scoile as an síorthacaíocht agus cabhair atá tugtha le bliain anuas. Is iontach an onóir dúinn a bheith ag obair le gach duine agaibh agus táimid ag súil go mór le tabhairt faoi bhliain ghnóthach, thairbheach an chéad bhliain eile. Ba mhaith liom freisin Samhradh den scoth a ghuí oraibh ar fad.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff and pupils, Board of Management members, Parents' Committee members, Student Committee members for your constant support, dedication and help over the last year. It has been a pleasure working with everyone and I look forward to a busy, fruitful and enjoyable year in 2011/2012. I trust you will all have a great summer and I look forward to welcoming you back next August!

Tosóidh Scrudaithe an tSamhraidh do bhliain 1, 2, 4 agus bliain 5 ar an Aoine 27 Bealtaine. Go néirí lena daltaí sna blianta sin.

The Summer exams for 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th years will commence on Friday 27th May. The best of luck to all the students involved.

Beidh na turais scoile ar siúl an Déardaoin 2/6/11. Beidh muid ag fágáil na scoile ar a 9.00, mar sin, is gá do gach duine a bheith istigh ag 8.40.

We are going on our school tours Thursday 2/6/11. The buses will leave at 9.00, therefore, please ensure that your child is in school by 8.40

" Beidh bronnadh bliain a sé ar siúl ar an Déardaoin 26/5/10 ag 7.30 le searmanais sa choláiste. Is é an tAthair Ben a chuirfidh an tsearmanais i láthair.
The farewell ceremony for sixth years will be held on Thursday 26/5/11 at 7.30pm. An tAthair Ben will officiate at the ceremony.

The Transition Year Graduation will take place on Monday, 30/5/11.

I would also like to congratulate all those who took part in the Sponsored Walk last Friday, May 21st. Over €2,500 has been raised to date.

Comhghairdeas le Dinín Ní Mhaolmhuaidh ó bhliain a dó a ghlac páirt sa chomórtas Safe Foods Cookery 'Take Away My Way' le deanaí. Chócaráil Dinín, ar shlí níos sláintiúla, 'pizza' agus sceallóga den scoth!
A big congratulations to Dinín Ní Mhaolmhuaidh who was one of 16 finalist out of a 1000 entrants at the Safe Foods Cookery Competition 'Take Away My Way'
Dinín made a healthier version of her favourite take away dish 'Pizza and Chips'. She (along with two friends - Ashleigh Nic an t- Sionnaigh and Simone Beastúin) travelled to Sligo on Thursday the 5th of May to compete in the national finals, where she had to cook her dish in front of a Judging panel.
Despite not winning she did fantastic to be one of the final 16. Well done Dinín

Siúlóid Urraithe

Bhí an siúlóid ar siúl (Dé hAoine, 20 Bealtaine). Siúlóid 10km a bhí ann agus bainfear úsáid as an urraíocht chun ríomhairí, treallamh spóirt agus ábhair éagsúla ar mhaithe na scoile a cheannach. Táimid an-bhuíoch don ionchur ó chách sa tionscadal seo agus don réamhobair a bhí déanta.

The Sponsored Walk took place (Friday 20th May). It was a 10km walk and the funds raised will be used to assist the school in purchasing. We owe our gratitude to members of the Parents Council for the support

Idirbhliain (TY)

As go brách le bliain 4 chuig Dún Laoghaire ag seoltóireacht agus ag currachóireacht ar an 10ú Bealtaine. Cé go raibh an ghrian ag taitneamh bhí gaoth láidir ann. Bhí fonn súgartha ar rónta an chalafoirt ach bheartaíomar gan dul ag snámh leo. D'fhanamar go dtí go rabhadar as radharc agus thit formhór an ghrúpa isteach san uisce fuar. D'érigh an ghaoth a chuir deireadh leis an seisiún sna báid. D'fheil sé dúinn áfach mar bhí cith te ag teastáil agus ocras mór orainn. An-lá go deo.

Spórt 2011

Bhí bliain iontach eile spórt againn sa scoil i mbliana. Shroich an fhoireann sacair agus pheil gaelaigh an chraobh ach faraor níor éirigh leo an chraobh a thabhairt leo. Caithfear comhghairdeas agus ard mholadh a thabhairt do na foirne scoile agus a n-imreoirí.

We enjoyed another hugely successful year of sport at the school. The under 16 boys reached the final in both football and soccer but unfortunately they were narrowly denied victory on both occasions. Congratulations and well done again to all the teams and players at the school.

The annual Sports' Day took place last Thursday (19th) and it was a fantastic fun-filled day of activities enjoyed by all who took part.


Slán

Is mór an t-ábhar bróin dúinn go bhfuil an t-am tagtha chugainn le slán a fhágáil le bliain a sé, rang Mhaelruan agus Aonghusaí. Ba mhaith linn ár mbuíochas a ghábháil leo súid a bhí i gcónaí cabhrabh có-oibríoch sa scoil, a rinne a ndícheall sa rang agus a bhí dílis i gcónaí don Ghaeilge. Ba mhaith linn chomh maith ár mbuíochas a ghabháil leis na daltaí ar fad a ghlac páirt sa spórt, sa chinnireacht agus i gcúrsaí eachtra-curracalam eile. Tá súil againn go ndéanfaidh sibh bhur ndícheall sna scrúduithe agus guímid gach rath oraibh sa todhchaí. Ní bheidh an scoil mar an gcéanna gan sibh !

It is with great sadness that the time has come to say our goodbyes to sixth year, classes Maelruan and Aonghusa. We would like to give our thanks to those who were always helpful and co-operative in the school, who always tried their best in class and who were always loyal to the Irish language. We would also like to thank those who took part in sport, cinnireacht and other extra-curricular activities. We hope that you will do your best in your exams and we wish you all the best for the future. The school will not be the same without you!

BRAT GLAS 2011-
COLÁISTE DE HÍDE

Is cúis mhór bróid is áthais do Choláiste de hÍde an Brat Glas a fháil i mbliana. Rinne An Taisce measúnú ar chúrsaí athchúrsála bruscair sa scoil le déanaí agus rinneadh ár gclár athchúrsála an-imprisean orthu. Is obair uile scoile í eagraithe ag Deiric agus an Coiste Glas sa scoil. Glacann cách páirt ann idir an fhoireann, daltaí agus tuismitheoirí. Bronnfar an Brat Glas go hoifigiúil ar an scoil ag searmanas bronnta an Bhrait Ghlais i bPáirc an Chrócaigh 25 Bealtaine 2011.

It gives me great pride and delight to announce that Coláiste de hÍde has been awarded the Green Flag this year 2011 for our programme of recycling waste in the school. An Taisce's evaluation committee were extremely impressed with our work. It is a whole school effort co ordinated by Deiric Mac An Bhaird (Deputy Principal) and the school's Coiste Ghlas. Well done to staff, students and parents for their great efforts. The Green Flag will be officially presented to Colaiste De hÍde at the National Green Schools' awards ceremony in Croke Park on the 25th May.
